Spatial development plan wind energy Goeree-Overflakkee in the Netherlands completed

A large majority in Goeree-Overflakkee’s council voted for the adjusted ‘partial revision of the regional spatial development plan Goeree-Overflakkee Wind Energy’ on Thursday 19 June 2014 (http://www.goeree-overflakkee.nl/portal/nieuws_3813/item/structuurvisie-windenergie-vastgesteld_50237.html).
The spatial development plan includes information about placement areas for wind energy. These locations are based, in part, on the plan EIA and environmental impact report with environmental impact assessment created by Pondera Consult in consultation with Bureau Waardenburg and H+N+S.

Placement areas
The municipality has included the following placement areas in the spatial development plan: Noordrand, Polder Van Pallandt, Anna Wilhelminapolder, Piet de Wit and Battenoert. Two others locations, outside these areas, have also been allocated as they already house wind turbines or have received permission for their construction. These locations, Herkingen and Hellegatsplein, retain their status.
This is the starting point for the next phase in which initiators will develop plans and collect more detailed environmental information for changing the zoning plan and for requesting the necessary permits for their wind energy projects.

Provincial spatial development plan
The plan EIA and environmental impact report with environmental impact assessment Wind Energy Goeree-Overflakkee is also an important part of the basis for the adjustment of the provincial spatial development plan when it comes to wind energy. The wind energy locations on Goeree-Overflakkee will be included in the Vision for Space and Mobility. These plans will be probably be decided on by the Provincial States on 9 July 2014.
