Joep Beijer is “the Driller” within Pondera Geo Energy. With 30 years’ experience, both in the Service Industry and on the Operator side, Joep brings the required expertise for successful drilling project execution. Since 2003, Joep has been involved in geothermal projects, with his first geothermal well drilled in Germany. Further projects were executed in Switzerland (5000m wells near Basel), Austria, Denmark and Sweden. During his career, Joep has always had a strong focus on Safety and the application of new/ innovative technologies. This has led to a number of Internationally recognised Safety awards and the development and construction of the Euro Rigs and the T-700, amongst other things.

 

Education and employers

Joep Beijer graduated from the Technical University Delft- department Mining and Petroleum Engineering in 1989 after which he joined Neddrill (a Dutch drilling contractor, in 2005 taken over by Noble Drilling). During this time, he was responsible for the design and execution of various drilling projects for clients like BP, Shell/ NAM, Total, Exxon. In 1997 he joined Deutag (now KCA Deutag) where, till 2012 he was responsible as Sr VP for Europe Russia and Kazakhstan. During this time the business was expanded from 5 units to 26 drilling units and 1700 FTE’s. Joep was member of the Executive Team of KCA Deutag. In 2013 Joep joined Shell Global Solutions. Initially he was responsible for all audit activities within Shell Wells after which, in 2015 he became General Manager for SWMS- a JV between Shell and CNPC- in Calgary. Purpose of this JV was the development of innovative and new technologies in order to reduce wellcost in Shell’s (unconventional) well construction business. Since 2017 Joep is active as consultant. Activities is advisory work for investors regarding M&A’s, advisory work to the Services industry with regards to growth strategies, Project Management work and activities related to renewable energy like hydrogen (storage) and geothermal.
