Sergio Simanjuntak has joined the business development team of Pondera Southeast Asia in the beginning of 2022. Within this team, he pursues the development of renewable energy projects in Indonesia. Since 2016, Pondera has been active in Indonesia as developer and consultant for on- and offshore wind energy and solar PV (rooftop, ground-mounted and floating).
Sergio has working experience in the manufacturing and construction industry. He was involved in production planning, raw material purchasing, and the development of energy and commercial property projects. Furthermore, he has research experience in organic photovoltaics during his study in the US. His most recent research was on the techno-economic potential and institutions of wind energy in Indonesia. Using this experience, he is looking to contribute to Indonesia’s energy transition and renewable energy development at Pondera Southeast Asia.
Education and previous employers
Sergio graduated from the University of Washington with a bachelor’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering (Nanoscience and Molecular Engineering) in 2016. He was then employed as a Production Planning and Inventory Control Coordinator at one of Indonesia’s largest steel producers. Subsequently, his career continued at a precast concrete manufacturer as an Executive Office Associate and Business Developer. With the support of LPDP scholarship, he completed a master’s degree in Complex Systems Engineering and Management (Energy) at TU Delft in 2021.
