In order to be able to connect solar parks and wind farms in Overijssel to the electricity network, network operators Enexis and TenneT want to strengthen the existing electricity network. Transformer stations are being adapted and expanded at various locations.
In the municipality of Enschede, various concrete solar park projects have been licensed or are in the application stage. An extension of the Wesselerbrink transformer station is necessary to connect new projects. Enexis asked Pondera to help them obtain a permit for the necessary expansion of the Wesselerbrink transformer station.
For the realisation of a medium-voltage installation and expansion of the site, Pondera drew up an environmental permit application with a deviation from the applicable zoning plan. The environmental permit, in deviation from the zoning plan, was granted on August 29, 2020 and is now irrevocable. We congratulate Enexis on achieving this milestone. Enexis has made a swift start with the (preparatory work for) construction in order to have the expansion ready in time.
Pondera is supporting grid operator Enexis with various projects to expand grid capacity in the north and east of the Netherlands.
