Joost works for Pondera as a Renewable Energy Consultant and as Country Director for Pondera Vietnam.
In his role as consultant, he is mainly involved in the planning phase of renewable energy projects. His multidisciplinary background enables him to strive on a wide range of topics. He has worked on various scouting exercises, exploring a project’s social, political, technical, financial and environmental feasibility. Joost also gained knowledge on specialised topics such as wind resource assessments, energy yield calculations, photo visualisations and business case calculations.
Joost is part of Pondera’s international team, where he is involved in consultancy and project development activities mainly in Asia. Business development is also an important part of his tasks. Moreover, since the end of 2021, Joost has been living in Vietnam where he is responsible for Pondera’s services there as Country Director.
Through his work at Pondera, Joost seeks to actively contribute to the global energy transition.
Education
During his Bachelor studies in Soil, Water & Atmosphere at Wageningen University, Joost expanded his knowledge of and insight into technical geological processes and climate change. He pursued further studies on to the Master’s programme in Energy Science at Utrecht University, in order to concentrate on one of the potential solutions to global warming: renewable energy production. Besides his Master’s degree, Joost completed the special Climate-KIC Master Label in 2015, a program that trains students to transition to sustainability. From 2021 to 2023, he participated in the Young Expert Program (YEP) from the Dutch government.
Joost has been employed at Pondera since the start of 2016.
