Positive advice EIA commission Windplan Groen

Pondera Consult  |  20 May 2019

The Commission for environmental assessment has issued a positive advice for the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for Windplan Groen. The Commission has judged the EIA to include all the essential information for it to support the decision making process on the National integration plan and permits for the wind farm. Pondera Consult has drafted the EIA, the required permits and conducted all the necessary studies.

“The EIA is quite extensive, clear and contains a lot of maps, tables and visualizations. Each alternative had its assessment criteria described clearly and was subsequently clearly assessed, using clear illustrations. All effects, including the effects on ecology, landscape and the environment (acoustics, shadow flicker and lights) were extensively researched for each alternative.

The association ‘Windkoepel Green’, the involved municipalities Dronten and Lelystad, the province of Flevoland and the ministries of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy and Interior and Kingdom Relations are all involved in the wind farm, which will add to the renewable energy production in the Netherlands. The wind farm of over 90 wind turbines has a total capacity of approximately 400 megawatts.

Part of Windplan Groen is the replacement of old turbines by new, more powerful ones so that fewer turbines are needed. The draft permit applications and draft integration plans, which include the EIA on which they are based, are open for public consultation from April 26th to June 6th 2019.
