Maarten Jaspers Faijer is an experienced consultant, with a background in public administration and spatial planning. He has vast experience in spatial policy and planning of wind and solar projects, as well as strategic programs such as the ‘Programma Energie Hoofdstructuur’ and ‘Regionale Energie Strategieën’. As project leader MER and permits, Maarten is co-responsible for about 6 GW of wind power capacity in lots in the North Sea and for several large onshore wind projects, such as Windpark Wieringermeer, Windpark Reusel and Energy Landscape Wells Meer. In addition, Maarten advises on energy policy related to wind and solar energy projects, as well as geothermal and storage. 

Maarten is a team player and is committed to strong relationships with clients as with colleagues. His open attitude, strong intrinsic drive and catching enthusiasm enable Maarten to meet client needs. Maarten is able to manage complex decision-making processes, quickly understanding the relevant stakeholders and connections. 

Education and employers

Maarten completed a Bachelor’s degree in Spatial Planning and Planning in Deventer. Subsequently, he graduated from Erasmus University Rotterdam in 2009 with a degree in Public Administration. Following this, Maarten started as a government trainee at the former Ministry of Transport and Public Works. In this position, he contributed to the MER for Structure Vision Infrastructure & Space (SVIR). In 2012, Maarten joined Pondera, where he developed from Junior to Senior Advisor Sustainable Energy. He worked on both on- and offshore wind projects, but also as a liaison to Pondera Geo Energy. Throughout one and a half year’s move to Ruimtemanagers, Maarten increased his knowledge and experience in collaborating governments. Since February 2024 Maarten is back at Pondera’s team Environment & Consenting and focuses on advising and realizing storage projects.
