Since September 2023, Marieke Dirksen has been working at Pondera as a Wind Resource Specialist. She uses technical tools and LES models to analyse the wind climate. Marieke has the ambition to use her scientific and project knowledge to contribute to and accelerate the energy transition around the world.
Education and previous employers
Marieke obtained her master’s degree in “earth surface and water” from the University of Utrecht. She subsequently focused on research and spent more than 4 years at the KNMI, investigating temperature and radiation measurements on a local scale. Marieke then started focusing on the validation of wind in weather models (HARMONIE and GRASP), using public LiDAR and measuring mast data, at the Delft University of Technology, In collaboration with the KNMI and Whiffle, she has carried out an analysis and validation of the wake effects of wind farms in the North Sea.
