Willem Bonnes joined Pondera in February 2023 as a technical project manager with a deep passion for the energy transition. He is results-oriented and works systematically and persistently towards the given goal, without losing the importance of soft-skills in project management. Willem has more than 7 years of combined experience in contracting and realisation of medium- and high-voltage projects, both onshore and offshore.

Willem’s strength lies in providing structure in a challenging, dynamic and multidisciplinary technical environment. Systems thinking, enthusiasm and genuine commitment are qualities that enable him to successfully perform his role as (international) technical project manager for complex projects. Willem is also skilled at connecting stakeholders and creating bridges between different disciplines and departments.

Education and previous employers

Directly after finishing secondary school, Willem joined the Royal Navy as a petty officer, and graduated from his Engineering course with honours, which he had worked on during the evenings alongside his full-time job. After his career in the Royal Navy, in which he was responsible for the maintenance and technical condition of various weapon and radar systems, Willem joined Alliander as a planner where he was introduced to the world of medium- and high-voltage technology. Following that, Willem joined TenneT as a technical project leader, where he was responsible for the contracting and realisation of various (onshore) high-voltage substations. When presented with the opportunity to combine his maritime roots with his passion for high-voltage engineering, he transferred to TenneT Offshore. While in this position, he lived in Dubai for more than a year to get the Engineering and Realisation of Hollandse Kust (south), two 700MW offshore platforms, back on track.
