Energy estate Wells Lake

The municipality of Bergen has an ambitious plan to transform the Wells Meer area, near the Maasduinen, into an Energy Estate. This plan is part of a larger program: VerduurSAMEN 2030. This states that the Energy Estate provides 50% of the total energy requirement of the entire municipality, which is 870 terrajoules per year. Pondera is providing the environmental impact report and the necessary permits for the integrated area development. The first focus is on the construction of the wind turbines and the various solar fields. In total, the Energy Estate contains approximately 260 hectares of solar fields (including a recreational solar park of 90 hectares and test fields for innovative sustainable energy projects), 4 to 6 wind turbines, an energy boulevard with a visitor centre, and small-scale activity and nature development in the south, near the Maasduinen.
