The Climate Agreement sets objectives for shaping the heat transition in the built environment and generatng more renewable electricity on land, specifically wind and solar energy. This is implemented in thirty regional energy strategies (RES), in which municipalities tackle this issue together. Pondera assisted in drawing up this RES for the Northeast Brabant region. It is an interesting project in a very dynamic and political playing field. It started with determining the assignment. Pondera mapped out what the energy demand currently is in this region and what the energy demand is expected to be in the future, in 2030 and 2050. Based on this, Pondera determined which steps should now be taken in the RES to achieve these goals. In addition, Pondera investigated the possibilities this region has for generating renewable electricity in the form of wind and solar energy on land, water and roofs. For the heat issue, there was close cooperation with the Heat Transition Makers. Ultimately, this led to an ambitious regional energy strategy in the Northeast Brabant region, in which a firm objective was set for 2030. Together with communication agency Groep 5700, Pondera has made this RES accessible interactively in an ArcGIS storymap: www.resnob.nl. Pondera is still involved in this project and is regularly called in as a specialist in the field of large-scale renewable electricity and for issues surrounding electricity grids.
