Along the A15 motorway lies the Nijmegen-Betuwe Wind Farm, developed by the Nijmegen Windpower cooperative. The plan is to build a solar park of approximately 5 hectares at this wind farm, which has been developed with the support of Pondera.
With approximately 17,000 solar panels, the park supplies enough sustainable electricity to supply 1,000 households per year. To make this solar park possible, Pondera has created a number of designs with south-oriented and east-west oriented arrangements. This results in various possible setups and yields. Various studies have also been carried out in the context of the environmental permit, such as archaeological and ecological research, and the spatial substantiation, environmental permit application and water permit application have been provided. Given that the solar park is located along the highway, research has also been carried out into noise and reflections. When constructing the Nijmegen-Betuwe wind farm, the connection of a future solar park was taken into account, which would make it relatively easy to utilise the electrical infrastructure already constructed by means of cable pooling.
