(International) energy policy
Renewable energy support does not have a one-size-fits-all solution due to the varying policies in different countries. Pondera has extensive international experience in supporting governments with energy transition policies and regulatory frameworks for specific renewable energy technologies.
The energy transition in each individual country requires enabling policies and workable regulatory frameworks in place for renewable energy projects to be developed. In practice, projects are often hampered when these policies and frameworks are not yet in place or do not work as they should. Pondera provides direct- and indirect support to Governments to identify challenges and provide solutions to enhance this. Examples are analyzing the permitting regulation, land acquisition process, energy procurement process and renewable energy target setting.
When the Government of a country considers using a specific (innovative) renewable energy technology for the first time, the development of a Roadmap is often the first step. Such Roadmaps could include the potential of a specific technology, a pipeline of project opportunities, required regulations, stakeholder involvement, etc. This defines the vision of the Government on that technology and can attract investors and developers. Pondera has been involved in the creation of several Roadmaps for Governments and international institutions.
As international consultant Pondera helps strengthening the capacity of government officials, project developers, or other stakeholders to better understand the renewable energy technologies, project development and the associated supply chain. This could consist of giving lecturers, supporting the incorporation of international standards (IEC) and organizing site visits, exchange programs and summits.
