GE Haliade-X prototype is now a 13 MW turbine

The prototype of the GE Haliade-X turbine, the world’s most powerful wind turbine in operation, keeps breaking records. The turbine has been optimized and is now operating at a power output op 13 MW. In collaboration with Sif and Pondera, GE has built the prototype of the GE Haliade-X in the ports of Rotterdam. Several measurements will be made in the coming months, after which the GE Haliade-X 13 MW will obtain its type certificate.

The improved GE Haliade-X 13 MW will be able to generate 4% more energy annually than the original version of the prototype GE Haliade-X 12 MW, which has been operating successfully since November 2019.

The turbine in Rotterdam is a prototype to achieve type certification. Ultimately, it is the intention that these turbines will be placed at sea.
