Hans Rijntalder is the founder of Pondera. From 2007 to 2021 he operated as the Managing Director of Pondera Consult, together with Eric Arends as deputy director. Since 2021 he is responsible for expanding Pondera Development. Hans is a senior consultant in the areas of climate, energy and the environment. He has amassed an extensive network, both nationally and internationally, through his work in developing renewable energy projects, especially offshore wind and large scale solar PV. Within Pondera, Hans is involved in offshore and large-scale wind and solar PV projects in the Netherlands and abroad.
Education and previous employers
Hans Rijntalder graduated with a degree in public administration from the Erasmus University Rotterdam in 1990, going on to complete a master degree in environmental management. He began his career as a member of the COT crisis research team. After that, he went to work for IWACO (Royal Haskoning from 2000; today RHDHV). He then, in chronological order, was employed as an environmental management adviser in Den Bosch, established an Enschede office for IWACO in 1996, was named Director of IWACO Noord and in 2001 became Business Group Director for environmental and safety management. In 2007, he founded Pondera.
Since 2021 Hans Rijntalder is the chairman of the Offshore Wind Committee of the Netherlands Wind Energy Association (NWEA). From 2012 to 2022 he was the acting secretary of the NWEA.
