In Koegorspolder, south of Terneuzen, Shell is constructing one of the largest solar parks in the Netherlands. Pondera has been closely involved in the supervision of construction and implementation. For Pondera it is the first project where we provide construction supervision for a solar park only.
The Koegorspolder solar park has a total capacity of 71 MW, split into two parts. The smaller part of 31 MW (Sluiskil) is connected to the network of fertilizer manufacturer Yara. The other part of 40 MW (Tractaatweg) connects to an existing wind farm via so called “cable pooling”. Cable pooling means that a single grid connection is used for two different power-generating facilities. To prevent the grid from being overloaded, a special control system has been developed that adjusts the power supply from the solar panels to the generated wind energy.
